KATIE HICKES
Birth and Postpartum Doula

KATIE HICKES was trained as a doula in 2006, and has supported many families in having meaningful birth and postpartum experiences. Katie fell in love with all things birthy when planning for the arrival of her first baby. That birth ended up as a cesarean, and then a few years later Katie had a transformative and wonderful home VBAC. Both birth experiences strengthened Katie's passion for helping mothers feel supported and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and beyond. She served for several years as a leader at a local chapter of ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network), co-running a group to help women seeking support after a cesarean or planning for a VBAC.
A graduate of Columbia University, Katie loves geeking out about the hows and whys of birth and sharing that knowledge with her clients. She brings warmth and humor to her practice, and stresses the importance of supporting the family as a whole in whatever they might need. Katie offers birth, postpartum, and night doula services, as well as abortion support. Katie lives in Tarrytown, New York, with her two teen kids.

JEN PIFER has been attending births throughout Westchester County in both hospitals and in homes since 2012. A mom of three, Jen’s passion for assisting women in childbirth arose from her own birth experiences and the desire to ensure every woman feels supported and excited about her birth. Jen’s empathic style helps to create a relaxed working relationship in which mom feels secure and respected regardless of her wishes or choices.
A MaternityWise trained labor and postpartum doula, Jen believes the doula/mom/partner collaboration should feel really good, and that everyone deserves a doula.

“Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers — strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.” — Barbara Katz Rothman, Ph.D.
Trained by the renowned doula Debra Pascali-Bonaro and certified (since 2011) by DONA International, Robin is a seasoned birth professional familiar with both HypnoBirthing and Spinning Babies (optimal fetal positioning) techniques and is a familiar, welcomed presence supporting her clients at hospitals, birthing centers and home births throughout Westchester and Fairfield, Connecticut.
The confusing, long and exhausting first labor of her daughter, and subsequent much easier birth of her son is what led Robin to doula work: She trusted that her body knew how to birth, and listened to the cues it was giving her. She is honored to help guide other women towards the same sort of birth experience: well-informed, well-supported, and as free of medical intervention as you desire.
Robin will support you in whatever choices you make for your birth: in the hospital, at a birth center, or a home; with an obstetrician or certified midwife; with epidural support, or non-medicated. Her role as your doula is to support your decisions, and help you have the birth you want that is as positive as possible.
Robin lives in Katonah, New York, and after a 20-plus year career in communications residing in NYC, considers herself a New Yorker though she was born in Ann Arbor and educated at the University of Michigan, where her two children are currently studying. She loves slow-jogging, dogs, and good coffee.
